The Folly is a stylish juxtaposition of traditional Cotswold charm with contemporary design and comforts.
Built in the 16th century, The Folly benefits from recent renovations and interior design by acclaimed design group Matrushka. Each room has been finished to an exceptionally high standard with modern and elegant fittings, including stone flooring, open fire places, an Aga and lovingly curated objets d'artes. The accommodation is arranged over three floors, offering light and well appointed living space whilst retaining a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The house is approached through an impressive gated entrance onto the gravelled driveway. The rear of the house is surrounded by landscaped gardens and private terrace, the perfect space for outside entertaining.
There is a detached, self-contained studio offering further accommodation looking out onto the hard tennis court and across the paddock, with a magnificent walnut tree.
We have three kingsize and one double bedroom in the house. Two of the bedrooms are ensuite. There is also another double bedroom in a separate building within the grounds. We can therefore sleep ten comfortably.
The Folly is completely child friendly, with the Toad Room being specifically designed for little ones.
All home comforts are provided – 50” TV and DVD with surround sound (and extensive DVD library!), dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, central heating, iPod docking station, Aga kitchen, wood burning stove, wifi, etc.
There is plenty of parking available at the front and side of the house, and pets are welcome (although there is no cat flap).
Besides the nearby race courses, there is plenty to do in the local area. Bath is about 18 miles away with its many attractions; Westonbirt Arboretum with its collection of trees from around the world is just up the road, and the charming town of Tetbury is six miles from The Folly.
There is trout and coarse fishing at the nearby Willows Isis Lakes, or the Cotswolds Water Park is great for water sports. There are also many gardens and historic properties to explore.
There are a wide variety of restaurants and cafes in the area if you don’t feel like cooking – the King’s Head in Didmarton (a short walk); Cafe 53, The Chef’s Table, Quayles and the Blue Zucchini in Tetbury – or we can arrange catered meals at the house.
We provide a range of bespoke extras to make it a perfect stay e.g. car services to the racecourses, home made three course dinner, yoga lessons, etc.
Please be aware that some mobile networks have a poor reception at The Folly.
The property is strictly non-smoking.
We are approximately 15 miles from Bath Racecourse, 27 miles from Chepstow Racecourse (via the Severn Bridge, which is a toll bridge) and 37 miles from Cheltenham Racecourse. We are also on the edge of the Badminton Estate, so the Badminton Horse Trials are almost next door!
