The Hop Kiln is an early Victorian building in beautiful Shropshire countryside 5 miles SE of Ludlow. It is set in a traditional farmyard setting and approached down a long drive off a quiet lane with the owners 17th century farmhouse adjacent. It was originally used for the processing of hops grown on the farm but fell into disuse with the decline of the English hop industry and the farm moved next door into modern buildings.

The Hop Kiln is ideal for 1 or 2 couples wanting to explore the wonderful Welsh Marches countryside. It is close to Ludlow with all its renowned food and antique shops, Michelin starred restaurants and stunning medieval and Georgian architecture.

 

The Hop Kiln provides a perfect place for a relaxing holiday in peaceful unspoilt countryside.

There are 2 en-suite double bedrooms, bedroom one has 2 single beds (optional as double bed) and a roll top bath in the bathroom. The other has a king-size bed with a shower room and retains the distinctive truncated pyramid shape in the ceiling.

The sitting room has a high beamed ceiling, Sky freesat TV, DVD, lots of books, games, local maps and a wood burning stove. The kitchen- dining room is spacious and well equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and CD player.

The building retains many original features and is furnished to a high standard with antiques and very comfortable beds.

 

There is a private courtyard, a BBQ available and also a garden area with picnic bench and
wonderful sunset views across the countryside towards Mortimer Forest.

 

Dogs welcomed, but do remember that this is farmland and that Bertie the Golden Retriever,
Phyllis and Canny the horses and Edith the goose also live here!

The Hop kiln is ideal for 2 couples wanting to explore the wonderful Welsh Marches countryside. It is close to Ludlow with all its renowned food shops, antique shops, restaurants and stunning medieval and Georgian listed buildings. In July there is Ludlow Festival with many events held including a play by Shakespeare performed in the castle. In September is the world famous Food Festival.

 

Tenbury Wells is 2 miles away, an attractive market town, with a mistletoe market at the end of November and dubbed 'My town in the orchard' by Queen Victoria. The nearest shops are in Tenbury with a very good family run supermarket, excellent butchers and deli, 2 greengrocers, a wet fish shop and an ironmongers well worth a visit. There are a couple of pubs which serve very good food, and numerous other pubs to suit all tastes! There are also two very good restaurants, an Indian, takeaway Fish and Chips, Pizza and Kebabs.

 

It is wonderful walking country, with much variety, from rolling farmland, to the drama of Clee Hill and the tranquillity of Mortimer Forest. We can provide maps and information for many walks and there are guidebooks in the house.
