Garbutt Farm is situated at the top of Sutton Bank and borders the Cleveland Way. Access to the Cleveland Way is direct from the farm for hikers, bikers and riders alike. Steeped in history, Garbutt Farm was used as a decoy airfield during WW2 and also borders the remnants of the old Hambleton Racecourse, which is now used by the local racehorse trainers to train the up and coming stars of today's racing world.

Self Catering Accommodation
We also have available for rent a 4 bedroom house with one en-suite, a large kitchen-diner, and sitting room with wood burner . Ideal for a week or more for your base in the North York Moors with so much to see in the area.
Garbutt Farm is about 7 miles from both Helmsley, a real tourist town, and Thirsk, with its James Herriot museum. Nearby are the wonderful ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, a little further away is Castle Howard. Pickering has a lovely steam train service to Whitby. Whitby is on the coast and has brilliant fresh fish and chips. You can walk on to the moors at Boltby just down what was the old drovers road.
If York Races are something that you have always wanted go to, York is 20 minutes on the train and then buses are provided to take you straight to the race course for an enjoyable day at the races with none of the hassle. This year in June there is a Festival of Racing in Thirsk. Also on the calendar this year are vintage car weekends at Castle Howard and Ripon.
On the property, are the remains of a WWII dummy airfield. Gliders go up regularly from the Gliding club nearby and just passed it is the White Horse visible from the A19. There are many places to go and visit come rain or shine. Over the road from the farm are two racing stables so an added bonus is to watch race horses going up the gallops in the morning.
There are many local pubs with a few miles of the Farm and they all serve lovely food.
