Welcome to Beacon Lodge. We are located in the heart of West Sussex within the new South Downs National Park. Petworth House is nearby and is a magnificent country house and park with an internationally important art collection, comprising numerous works by Turner.
Within 15 minutes is Goodwood which hosts the Festival of Speed and the Classic Revival and of course the famous racecourse. Fontwell Park racecourse is also nearby.
Just 6 miles to the South is the historic town of Arundel one of the most picturesque towns in Sussex. The ancient castle overlooks the town and is a spectacular sight. The Catholic cathedral is also worth a visit and the town is home to several antique shops and many good restaurants
The City of Chichester is famous for its spectacular cathedral and the festival theatre. There is a large selection of shops and restaurants.
We are within 2 miles of the South Downs Way – a magnet for cyclists and walkers. We have a secure lock up garage for bicycles.
The Sussex Coast is within half an hours drive and there are many pretty coastal towns and villages and the famous beach at West Wittering is well worth a visit.
There are 3 pubs within five minutes drive of Beacon Lodge. The Labouring Man in Coldwaltham, The Swan in Fittleworth and the Squire and Horse in Bury. The food at the Squire and Horse is outstanding.
Our accommodation consists of a separate annexe adjacent to the main house – this is a large comfortable room with a double and a single bed. There is an en suite bathroom/shower. The room looks out over quiet open countryside. In the main house we have a double room, with its own separate bathroom. Both rooms have a colour TV, and tea/coffee making facilities. WiFI Available.
Full English or continental breakfast is served in the dining room.
Local Attractions
Goodwood, hosts the annual Festival of Speed in late June, plus throughout the year racing meetings are held including Glorious Goodwood at the beginning of August.
Fontwell Racecouse is 7 miles from Beacon Lodge.
Petworth House and Gardens is a beautiful country house with an internationally important art collection.
The Southdowns Way is a national trail running from Winchester to Eastbourne. Beacon Lodge is less than 2 miles from the trail.
